Commercial Litigation

In today’s litigious society, no business can operate for long without eventually finding itself in need of help in the courts. Litigation can be an expensive and daunting option for a small or mid-sized business. Whether the problem arises out of a dispute with a customer or supplier, a disgruntled former employee, or an improper attack from a competitor, MGM Law can bring a wealth of experience to bear on your behalf.

We are skilled in all areas of conflict negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and, if need be, jury and bench trials. The trial lawyers at MGM work hand in hand with clients to develop practical, cost-efficient resolutions.

We are customer-centered. Our primary goal is to represent our clients by using economically smart strategies that help keep them focused on their business. That begins by setting goals that are realistic for each unique case, and then explaining the litigation process and timelines, the client’s role in the process, and anticipated legal costs.

Examples of general business litigation representation include contract disputes, collection proceedings, construction litigation, commercial transactions, securities, business torts, customer disputes, competitor attacks, banking and finance, fraud, negligence, insurance disputes.

MGM’s employment litigation practice handles cases involving claims of wrongful discharge, discrimination, workers’ compensation, OSHA, employment contracts, and non-compete agreements.

We represent real estate clients in litigation matters that might involve specialized finance and securities matters, title disputes, development and lease disputes, land use, trusts, and construction and environmental compliance issues.

Because of our unique approach to litigation, we regularly receive referrals from lawyers outside our firm to represent clients with “unusual” litigation cases that don’t fit a particular pattern or mold.  But we bring that same problem solving capability to bear for our long standing clients every day, as well.

Our attorneys are licensed to practice in Virginia and represent clients in all state and federal trial and appellate courts, even including the U.S. Supreme Court. We appear before all administrative forums such as the EEOC, Department of Labor, Board of Contract Appeals, Workers’ Compensation Commission, local planning commissions and boards of supervisors, as well as other state and federal agencies.
