Experience
Peter “Pete” Goergen is co-founder and Vice President of MG Law. His 30 plus years as a general practitioner give him a broad and deep knowledge of the law. He represents a diverse body of clients in a range of practice areas including wills and estate planning, residential real estate, business and corporate law, and family law.
Pete tailors wills, trusts and other estate planning documents to fit the specific needs and wishes of each family with an eye toward preserving harmonious family relationships while minimizing estate taxes and the more burdensome aspects of probate. He also regularly drafts durable powers of attorney and advance medical directives (i.e., health care powers of attorney and living wills) and assists with the administration of decedents’ estates.
Although real estate transactions can be tricky, Pete enjoys representing home buyers and sellers. He does his best to put himself in his clients’ shoes and strives to consummate their deals timely, efficiently, and congenially. His goal is to have his clients leave his office happy that they have chosen him to represent them.
Through his business law practice, Pete routinely advises small closely-held companies, limited liability companies, and other corporations on strategic entity formation and operation designed to shield individuals from personal liability and to provide the owners with sound succession planning.
Pete represents individuals in all types of family law cases including prenuptial agreements, separation and property settlement, divorce, and child support and custody. In each case, Pete fully advises the client on the underlying legal issues allowing the client to make well-informed decisions. He also counsels the client on setting reasonable goals and realistic expectations.
Before going to law school, Pete taught high school English. He has been married for over 25 years and has three children. His hobbies include reading, running, hiking, and Penn State football.
Pete listens to his clients, understands their concerns, and provides them with creative solutions.
