Experience

Rick leads the firm’s Business Law group. The majority of his law practice focuses on banking and lender representation, small business loans and SBA financing, as well as real estate related transactions. He also provides legal advice on mergers and acquisitions, general corporate, securities and franchising law.

Rick represents many of central Virginia’s largest banks, as well as a host of local community banks, SBA lenders and real estate developers. His SBA loan practice is known as one of the strongest in the state due to his intricate knowledge of the process. His success in protecting his clients and advancing their interests has created long-term client relationships that have survived a tough economy and turbulent times in the banking industry.

His commercial real estate practice includes real estate development and transactions work. Rick has extensive experience in real estate financing, with particular emphasis on residential development. He represents individuals, residential builders, and corporations in the purchase and sale of large tracts of undeveloped land, warehouses, office space and shopping centers.

In the business and corporate arena, Rick has successfully guided many business owners through the process of either acquiring or selling their companies. He provides general corporate counseling, entity formation, and succession planning as well as contract and transaction advice. He serves businesses of all sizes, including a significant number of Richmond’s largest privately-owned businesses.

Rick’s philosophy is to provide clients with the outstanding value they deserve. Whether the client is a large commercial lender or a small start-up business, he provides solid legal advice with fees in proportion to the scope of work provided. It keeps his clients coming back every time they need a business lawyer.

In his spare time, he enjoys watching his son play baseball for Boston College.
